To me painting with Encaustic wax is a sensuous experience, which stimulates the eyes – just look at the bright, shining colours, the nose – the smell of molten wax reminds me constantly of Christmas, and the ears - I always play some nice relaxing music while I paint!
The various techniques turn Encaustic Painting into a fascinating and rewarding hobby, which I would like to share with others. The basic techniques are very easy to learn. No drawing or painting skills are required. Beginners are able to make beautiful pictures (great for framing or to create greeting cards) right from the beginning, so Encaustic Painting is a great leveller! Of course it takes practise and talent to reach the higher levels of the art, but it is perfectly O.K. to stick with the basics and just enjoy the flow!
I teach in several communities across the Okanagan, from Kelowna to Greenwood and will travel to outside locations to give multi-day workshops. Previous examples include Ft. McMurray, AB, 100 Mile House, Williams Lake, Port Moody, BC. Monthly workshops and Circle meetings are held in Penticton and Okanagan Falls.
